I Survived

I survived the triple shot. I did the smart thing & loaded up on Tylenol Arthritis after the shots - TWO 650s - and drank plenty of fluids for the rest of the day. Upper arm was hot & painful by bedtime. Took more Tylenol & went to bed early - for me. Got up feeling weak & painful - definitely flu-ish, went back to bed & go up at 11. Really crappy day. Drank & drank & drank. Warmed up the Chicken soup I made from leftovers the day before - mostly broth with lots of dried garlic in it - & went back to bed around 5. Woke up, took more Tylenol & added leftover chicken broth to the Hot & Sour Soup DoorDash brought me around 9:00. It was the BEST. Drank more fluid, took more Tylenol & went back to bed.

Got up early this morning. Head is clear, don't feel too bad, ate a good breakfast & looked at the news. Don't know why I bothered. Arm's still hot & painful but I'm moving it about to keep it loose. I think I'm gonna be OK. Not as bad as I thought. My friend Doug was sick for over two weeks after his last Covid booster & still suffers from night sweats & bad days .  .  .  .  I've been lucky, I guess. I am glad I didn't add a 4th shot to the works!! Will spend today knitting, reading & watching my favorite Zoo shows on the Tube. Might even do my own tax return.

Knitting - Yeah, the l-o-n-g cuffs are progressing nicely. I can't knit for a long time like I used to - the old arm & shoulder muscles are not what they used to be!!! But I'm working at it a little every day. My Top-Down raglan in Briggs & Little Sport is mid chest - the worst part of the whole thing is winding balls out of those long skeins of singles. I wish I could find my skein winder .  .  .  .  .

Was I Crazy?

I've been trying to get my flu shot since last October. Well, a flu, Covid booster & a pneumonia shot - if eligible - to be exact. It's become very difficult for me to get out for anything short of the hospital really. I'm becoming less & less able to do anything without getting short of breath dammit. But, finding someone to come to me to give the shots has been a tough go.

Sunday, I talked to London Drugs, where I get my drugs, & was told I was out of luck until October when the new vaccines came in .  .  .  . Monday, my doctor's office called to ask if I got my flu shot & I had to say I was on a list somewhere but no one had called me since last fall so I had given up.   Suddenly, all hell breaks loose & I get multiple calls from a drugstore I've never heard of and a call from the Health Authority on Tuesday. The Health guys say the Contractor drugstore had called me multiple times with no answer & given up. The Contractor drugstore had NOT called me until that very day, but it was multiple times. I did take advantage of the confusion & booked the very first appointment!! In the end, I got all three shots - TODAY - Wednesday. I've had a very busy three days!!!

I hope I didn't go too far in getting all three at once but I thought I should make the call worth the trip. I'll probably be sick as a dog tomorrow from all this but what the hell. I'm protected for another year.
